Neighborhood Information

Neighborhood Review Process

  • Applicants submit the two-part application above. Section one collects income and need information. Section two consists of questions to detail the applicant’s need and connection to the neighborhood.

  • Application reviewers from the WCHT Junaluska Working Group will give neighborhood questions a 1-5 score. The median of these scores will be used to select between multiple qualifying candidates.

  • This review is designed to treat the home and land as an asset of the neighborhood and instill decision-making power for neighborhood residents into our homebuilding process.

  • The proposed neighborhood questions are open for review and suggestions until May 21, 2024. Submit suggestions with the form below. The full application will be posted the following day and WCHT will begin accepting homebuyer applications.

  • The Junaluska Working Group will host a first meeting in June. Sign up here and receive a link for the first meeting.

  • Please email wataugacommunityhousingtrust@gmail.com with any questions.

Proposed Neighborhood Questions

We’re still working on the best phrasing for the bolded questions. Please send any suggestions for changes or additions using the form below before May 21st, 2024.

  1. Please describe your connection to the Junaluska neighborhood.

  2. How can you contribute to the future of the Junaluska neighborhood? Or what is your interest in the future of the Junaluska neighborhood? What would you like to see happening there? What is your vision for the future of Junaluska?

  3. How would owning this home advance your personal goals?

  4. How do you participate in your local community?

  5. A fifth prompt could be “Describe a good neighbor” so the working group could see if the applicant would be a good fit.
